YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Saddle Brook police found a Hackensack and Oradell man carrying several bags of heroin after an employee at the Marriott Hotel said one of them apparently was using the drug in the men’s room.

The hotel assistant manager told police he’d seen “an orange syringe cap fall to the floor from an occupied bathroom stall” and spotted the men get into a red Chevy Cobalt in the parking lot yesterday afternoon.

Detective Capt. Vincent Laurentino and Officer Christopher Stanton followed the car as it left, then pulled it over on the northbound Garden State Parkway a short distance away, Deputy Chief Robert D. White said.

The driver, 26-year-old Matthew Duthie of Hackensack, was carrying of six small bags of heroin, two hypodermic needles and a silver spoon, White said.

The passenger, Dmitry Galperin, 25, of Oradell, had 30 bags of the drug and two needles, he said.

Both were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and released pending Aug. 7 appearances in Saddle Brook Municipal Court.
