The victim was taken to Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck with a small-caliber gunshot wound in the abdomen after being shot at the Reichelt Road public housing complex off Pacific Street, law enforcement sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT moments after the incident.
He went into cardiac arrest and died at the hospital, they confirmed at 7:30 a.m.
As of 8:30, police were still looking for what CLIFFVIEW PILOT originally reported was a late-model silver Audi that might have a broken left taillight.
It apparently headed south on Boulevard toward New Bridge Road.
