EXCLUSIVE: A traffic stop led to the arrest of an upstate New York woman who Palisades Parkway Police today said was carrying an ounce of cocaine and prescription drugs.

PIP Lt. Roman Galloza and Acting Chief Michael Coppola stopped a 2003 Saturn at 4:20 yesterday on the northbound parkway just north of Exit 1 in Tenafly.

The license plate was obstructed and a brake light was out on the vehicle, Galloza told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Smelling an odor of pot from inside, the ranking officers separately interviewed the driver and her mother, who was a passenger, Galloza said. Both are from the Syracuse area, he said.

The daughter was charged with having pot in the car, issued summonses and released pending a court hearing, Galloza said.

Her mother, 48-year-old Kathleen Marie Tyler, was charged with possession of cocaine, prescription drugs and marijuana, as well as having drug paraphernalia.

Tyler was being held on $58,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
