YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Bergenfield police said they found a West New York man drunk and asleep in his car, with two wheels on the sidewalk and the lights on, in the middle of the night.
Officer David Tortora spotted the gray, four-door Chevy on Elm Street around 2:10 a.m. Saturday.
After waking the driver – identified as 40-year-old Jose Suazo-Ciprian of West New York — the officer detected alcohol on his breath, Detective Capt. Cathy Madalone said.
Suazo-Ciprian failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, Madalone said. He then gave two breath samples, she said.
Police issued him a summonses before releasing Suazo-Ciprian to his son. A Dec. 12 Municipal Court date was set.
