UPDATE: The possibility remained late this afternoon that federal authorities might send Justin Bieber back to his native Canada after an incident at Teterboro Airport less than two hours earlier, law enforcement sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“Whoever had access to the plane when it came in [from Toronto] notified the Port Authority that there was a strong odor of marijuana on board,” a police official with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Another source said no drugs were found after two drug-sniffing dogs — one from the Port Authority and the other from Customs and Border Protection — gave positive indications to a couple of piece of luggage.

Thirteen people, including the crew, were aboard the plane (photo, above, courtesy CBS) when it arrived just before 3 p.m. in advance of Sunday’s Super Bowl and pre-game events, the second source said.

The group presumably includes Bieber’s father, for whom the Grammy winner told reporters earlier this week that he was chartering the Raytheon Hawker 800XP.

This comes two days after Toronto authorities brought assault charges against the 19-year-old pop star. He already is facing a DUI in Miami and remains under investigation for felony vandalism in California.
