EXCLUSIVE: An Oakland homeowner who found two burglars in his house had help from a co-worker in restraining both until police arrived, Police Chief Edward Kasper told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Michael Puig, 24, of Paramus and Russell Workman, 26, of Pilesgrove , were both charged with burglary and theft.

The homeowner and his co-worker grabbed the pair at a Long Hill Road residence around 4:30 on Friday, Kasper said yesterday.

Both were carrying burglary tools — specifically a crowbar and screwdriver, the chief said.

With the help of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Identification, which collected evidence, Oakland Detective Bart Pagerie is “looking into the possibility of the pair having committed other burglaries in and around Bergen County,” Kasper said.

Puig posted $50,000 bail and was released yesterday. Workman still being held on $50,000 bail this morning. Both are charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

First court apperances are set for Thursday.
