YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Fort Lee man being sought by Upper Saddle River police in a car sale scam was brought to the Bergen County Jail following his arrest last week in Spring Valley.

According to Police Chief Patrick Rotella, 39-year-old Telly Farrow convinced an Upper Saddle River man to buy various vehicles that would be re-sold at Farrow’s used car dealership in Hackettstown.

In exchange, Farrow offered to pay for the man’s new car and cover all insurance payments, the chief said.

The victim completed an application, parts of which Farrow forged in order to secure instant credit, Rotella said.

The man ended up buying five vehicles that purportedly went to Farrow for resale, he added.

The catch, Rotella said, was that the dealership — which Farrow called Admiration Motors — didn’t exist.

Farrow “personally utilized the vehicles, none of the promised payments were made and the vehicles disappeared,” he said.

The victim ended up filing for bankruptcy, the chief said.

Upper Saddle River police issued a warrant for Farrow’s arrest in September. He was arrested last Thursday in Rockland County, waived extradition and was brought to New Jersey over the weekend.

He remained held on $50,000 bail, charged with theft by deception and forgery.

Rotella asked that anyone who may have been victimized in a similar scam involving Farrow to call his department: (201) 327-2700
