YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: Firefighters knocked down a smoky blaze that gutted a Garfield ranch house this morning.
Garfield firefighters, Wallington FAST team and an Elmwood Park engine were among those who responded.
The fire displaced at least four residents and a dog and caused extensive smoke and other damage to the 1½-story wood frame duplex at the corner of Pleasant and Lanza avenues.
A short stretch of Lanza Avenue was closed after the fire was called in just after 9:30 a.m.
Firefighters said they had it under control in a little over a half hour.
