HAVE YOU SEEN HIM? A 35-year-old Cliffside Park man rented out a house that he didn’t own, surprising both the tenants who gave him $6,000 and the woman who owns the house when she found them there.

William Prokos changed the locks on a vacant single-family house in Linden, put up a ”For Rent” sign and rented it out last November to a man and his wife, Detective Capt. James Sarnicki said this morning.

Telling the couple his name was “Tommy,” Prokos collected $
6,000 in cash for two months rent and “administrative” fees before bolting, Sarnicki said.

Several days later, the actual owner of the house, a 63-year-old woman from Delaware, showed up to check on her property — and was surprised to see people living in her house, he said. She immediately contacted police.

Warrants for burglary and theft have been issued out of Union County for Prokos, originally from Kearny, who the captain said may be driving a red, 2001 Ford F-350 pickup truck with the NJ license plate:  C93 CVR .

Anyone with information with Prokos’ whereabouts is asked to call Linden police at (908) 474-8500) or lead detective Michael Burnette at (908) 474-8535.
