ONLY ON CVP: A Jersey City man who Fort Lee police said they caught with more than 6 pounds of pure heroin was released on $250,000 bail today from the Bergen County Jail.
Ernis Beato, 24, was coming from Philadelphia when Fort Lee police stopped him at the George Washington Bridge on June 25 and reported finding the heroin under the seat.
They charged the 5-foot-5-inch, 195-pound Beato with distributing heroin, possessing the drug and having it on school property.
The federal government has estimated the street-sale price of pure heroin at as low as $100,000 per kilogram (2.2 pounds) and as high as $170,000 for “black tar.” Additives can stretch a kilo by up to 50%.
