BEYOND BERGEN: A driver who had trouble pulling over at the Lincoln Tunnel toll plaza in Weehawken was arrested by Port Authority police, along with his passenger, for being stoned and having pot in the car.

He also had no registration or insurance, authorities said.

Officers on foot patrol stopped the 2007 Honda for having an obstructed view, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

When 27-year-old Marco Ramirez had trouble navigating the vehicle, the officers ordered him and passenger, Johny Santos, 25, out, he said.

The two Belleville men “were unsteady on their feet and swayed while standing,” while Ramirez “used the vehicle for suppport,” Pentangelo said.

The officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car and found small bags of pot, empty baggies and grinders inside, he said.

The pair, who “admitted to having just smoked marijuana,” were both arrested and the vehicle impounded, Pentangelo said.

Ramirez was charged with DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, having no registration or insurance, and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Santos was charged with being under the influence of an illegal drug.
