BEYOND BERGEN: A repeat offender out on bail for stalking and making terroristic threats was arrested by Port Authority police for stealing a car from a Newark Airport rental lot.

The gray 2014 Chevrolet Spark was taken on Sept. 28 from the Hertz Rent-a-Car at the airport, prompting a PAPD alert, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this morning.

Yesterday Livingston police notified them that they’d spotted the car outside a local Shop-Rite.

Authority detectives later watched the car and grabbed Martin Kurzer, 29, as he approached it, Pentangelo said.

“The suspect made statements indicating his responsibility for the theft,” he said.

Kurzer, who lives near the Shop-Rite, has 29 arrests on his adult criminal record.

Authority police picked him up in 2011 for auto theft out of LaGuardia Airport, records show.

The NYPD arrested him last December on charges of trying to bribe an officer who caught him in the steam room of a Greenwich Village Equinox without permission. He was carrying two stolen credit cards, they said.

This past August, Summit police charged him with stalking and making terroristic threats.
