YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Thanks to a local business owner, Park Ridge police arrested a Montvale who they said was operating a Uber car service with bogus license plates and registration.
Alerted by the merchant, Officer Gerald Powers stopped Burak Karabel, 38, as he drove away Thursday night in a black 2010 BMW on Kinderkamack Road, Capt. Joseph Rampolla said this afternoon.
Powers arrested him on charges of making, using and displaying fraudulent government documents after confirming that the Arizona license plates and registration “were doctored and fictitious,” the captain said.
Karabel also was several traffic tickets, he said.
He was being held on $30,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a March 11 date.
Additional charges were possible, Rampolla said.
