A report of a man carrying an assault rifle onto a light rail train briefly caused delays on the Hudson-Bergen line this morning until NJ Transit police discovered he had an umbrella.
An NJ Transit spokesman said agency police received the report involving a train leaving Liberty State Park around 8 a.m.
So they stopped and boarded several trains before they found the man and his protection from today’s rain.
“We are grateful and appreciative for the public’s continued vigilance,” the spokesman, John Durso, Jr., said. “[W]e encourage customers: If they see something they should continue to say something.”
