Rail service was restored along NJ Transit’s Bergen County line nine hours after a tractor-trailer was struck by a commuter train in Garfield.
The noon crash near the Plauderville station today produced only minor injuries, the authority said.
The driver, who was hauling plastic pellets to a nearby Garfield company, got out before it was struck — leaving the crossing gates atop the toppled tanker, they said.
However, an agency spokesman said the locomotive of the northbound, six-car train became derailed after hitting the truck, which was left on its side — with pellets spilled around.
Service was restored around 9 p.m.
