YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Cliffside Park man tried to run over two people who chased him into a Norwood church parking lot after he punched a woman, police said.
Behrang Darian, 29, attacked the woman for an undetermined reason at the ChoDae Church on Rockland Avenue Monday afternoon and then ran to his car, Norwood Police Chief Jeffrey Krapels said.
Two witnesses chased him and Darian “veered toward them with his car, narrowly missing them,” Krapels said.
An alarm was broadcast and Closter Police Sgt. Thomas Brueck stopped the car on Closter Dock Road.
He, along with Patrol Officers Chris Barbieri and Justin Krapels (the chief’s son) arrested Darian and turned him over to Norwood police.
Darian, who has previous simple assault arrests on his record, was being held on $35,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
