UPDATE: A report was of an “agitated” man who possibly had weapons in a Fair Lawn garden apartment led to the evacuation of more than 50 residents and ended with him being taken by ambulance to Bergen Regional Medical Center amid a large-scale emergency response, including members of the county Bomb Squad and hazardous materials unit.
Fair Lawn police, EMS and Heavy Rescue personnel joined the county police and sheriff’s officers at the Park Hill condominium complex on High Street just before 7 p.m.
The specialized squads concentrated on a second-floor unit after police closed High Street between Abbott Road and Audobon.
Nothing that represented a genuine threat was immediately found, emergency responders said.
